It could join the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Toyota Highlander in that space.

Electric vehicle enthusiasts have been enjoying a wave of new releases and announcements. Now, Subaru is throwing its name into the ring in the rapidly expanding three-row EV market with an intriguing model.

Autoblog reported on the forthcoming mystery SUV, which is set for an April launch. Subaru is keeping much of the specifics under wraps, sharing only a shadowy image of the vehicle.

Still, Autoblog pieced together a good chunk of information and plenty of educated guesswork on how the new model will look.

Subaru confirmed that the all-electric SUV will deliver a stout 420 horsepower and feature the brand's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. The teaser suggests a modern design with distinctive angles that resembles fellow Subaru SUVs in the Solterra and Trailseeker.

While the Solterra was once the only all-electric Subaru model, the brand now offers a smaller option in the Uncharted and a larger one in the Trailseeker. Autoblog deduced that with its more powerful engine, this new entrant will go faster than the Trailseeker, which can go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.4 seconds.

Since all of Subaru's electric offerings are two-row SUVs, it also connected the dots to suggest the vehicle will be a three-row SUV to establish its own niche; the brand has indicated that it planned to introduce a three-row electric SUV in 2026.

Amid the wait for official news, the entry of a powerful, sleek three-row electric SUV is welcome. It could join the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Toyota Highlander in that space. Even the plug-in hybrid market is low on three-row options, too, with the Volvo XC90, Mazda CX90, and Kia Sorento PHEV among only three other entrants.

More EV options and increased adoption is a positive for people and the planet. It translates to less tailpipe pollution and cleaner air with vehicles that are much better in these aspects over their lifespans than gas-powered options. Drivers can also tap into big savings on fuel and maintenance costs.Β

Home charging is the best way to maximize those savings and avoid higher prices at public charging stations. Qmerit can help drivers get set up with Level 2 EV chargers at home with fast, free estimates for installation.
