Duke spent so long at the Humane Society of Ocean City that people across the community came to recognize him. The coonhound mix was finally adopted, and an update showed he was settling in well.

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, the facility said Duke's years in its care ended with an adoption.
The Humane Society of Ocean City (@humanesocietyocnj) shared the update in a statement, saying, "We are SO happy to say that Duke was recently adopted, and he is absolutely flourishing in his new home."
Brought to the shelter as a stray in summer 2021, Duke became one of the facility's most recognizable dogs while staff kept searching for the family that would be the right fit.
Interest in Duke spread beyond the shelter. He was featured in People magazine, and NBC10 highlighted him in a Clear the Shelters segment.
Duke was getting plenty of love, growing comfortable in his new home, and had made friends with another dog.
