A 17-year-old dog named Rocky was pulled to safety in a dramatic rescue in Thessaloniki, Greece.

According to To Vima, Rocky got away from his owner during an evening walk and ended up falling into a road opening that was about 10 feet (three meters) deep.
While the opening had reportedly been covered with wooden boards, it didn't provide enough cover to prevent Rocky from slipping in.
Reports from Greece's public broadcaster indicated that work may have been done at the site, possibly involving HEDNO, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator.
Help arrived quickly from the fire department and a volunteer. They went down into the hole, got Rocky out, and returned him to his owner.
Despite the alarming ordeal, the senior dog seemed to be doing well. After the rescue, Rocky appeared to be in good condition and healthy despite his age and the depth of the fall.
