A Tesla Solar owner in the Houston suburbs said their Powerwalls are not fully refilling overnight despite being on an electricity plan that makes power free during nighttime hours.
What happened?
In a Reddit post in r/TeslaSolar, the original poster described a system with solar expected to supply around 70% of the home's annual electricity needs. They also have two Powerwalls under a utility plan with free overnight power.
The OP said the batteries have been starting each morning somewhere between about 60% and 90% instead of full.
They wrote, "I do not want to pay for electricity. But since power is free to me at night I want to charge the batteries to 100% so I always have max available battery power in case if an outage."
Some Reddit users suspected the electric plan configuration or the home's ability to export power. Others said Tesla's software may still be adapting to usage patterns.
One person with a different charging problem said, "Tesla support told me two days ago that the engineers are 'likely' working on a solution to this but nothing is official."
