Viewers online are applauding a brief wildlife rescue clip in which a man helps a bison calf get beneath a fence and back to its distressed mother. While the situation got a bit hairy for a second, commenters on the r/HumansBeingBros paid tribute to the courageous man and the stout fencing for allowing for the reunion.
What happened?
The footage posted on Reddit shows the young bison on one side of a fence while an adult waits on the other. A man picks up the calf, crouches at the barrier, and guides it underneath so it can rejoin the larger animal.

"Guy returns baby bison to its panicked mother," the original poster wrote of the scene. The situation definitely didn't go too smoothly at first.
Caught on the wrong side of the fence with the baby, the man wanted to do the right thing and bring the pair back together. However, the mother was notably agitated and defensive as a mother bison can be.
It charged the fence in a bid to reach the man, who it thought was up to no good. Fortunately, the man's quick thinking and the strong fence came together nicely.

The fence held up, and the man figured out how to get the bison back to the other side.
"Honest thought he was gonna chuck the baby bison over the fence," a user wrote.
"Bison - 'You're lucky that worked out,'" another joked.
"Went in and rolled the baby bison as a bowling ball like it was his last chance when she started to freak out," a third observed.
Why does it matter?
For young wild animals, separation from a parent can quickly become dangerous. A calf stuck on the wrong side of a fence may face greater stress, injury, or exposure to predators, while the mother can become agitated and unpredictable as she tries to get back to it.

In this case, it could have given the man a false sense of security. Still, his intervention worked out. The calf was back with its mother, and the encounter was over with everyone safe.
