As part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters effort, the Henderson Animal Center will not charge adoption fees for qualified applicants through August. The promotion is meant both to move pets into permanent homes and to reduce crowding at shelters, according to the Henderson News.
Available dogs and cats can be seen at the shelter during weekday hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prospective adopters are encouraged to browse pet listings online and turn in an application before visiting. Adoptable animals can be found by searching ZIP code 75652 on 24PetConnect, and applications are available through the City of Henderson's website.
Clear the Shelters has placed pets in homes nationwide since it began, with a running total in the hundreds of thousands.
