A rescue turned into an emotional reunion after a wild bird that had previously been nursed back to health and released showed up again, tugging at viewers' hearts on TikTok.

What Happened? 

Creator Hinely Haynie (@hinely.haynie) took to TikTok to share a short clip outlining the bird's gripping story.

The story begins with the bird showing up in Haynie's horse corral. Hainey reveals she couldn't find the mystery bird's mother, so she took it to a wildlife rescue center. There, the bird got care and food. Hainey took it upon herself to visit the bird with some small fish for it to chow down on.

At the rescue center, the bird started to thrive. It grew bigger wings and kept developing its hunting instincts. Haynie and the workers presumably knew it was time to set the bird free, so we see the rewarding moment when Haynie releases it back into the wild. Viewers ID'ed the bird as a blue heron.

If that's where the story ended, that would've been special enough. However, the bird remarkably came back to Haynie's home, it appears. She claimed she "recognized the look in its eyes" in an on-screen caption, and we see a bird. It hung out on her deck, roof, and patio furniture before she let the old friend in.

From there, it was a little skittish around her family, but it eventually wandered over to its past rescuer.
