Heating your home's water uses a surprising amount of energy, and with utility rates soaring across the United States, highly efficient solutions are gaining traction.

According to a release, major heating and cooling company Lennox has developed a next-gen water-heating system built to reduce energy consumption.

This announcement marks Lennox's entry into the North American water heater market.

"Our expansion into water heating is a natural evolution of Lennox's commitment to delivering total home comfort," said Sarah Martin, president of Lennox Home Comfort Solutions.

Although Lennox released an entire line of new water heaters, the most enticing for homeowners looking to save may be its heat pump unit.

Heat pump water heaters rely on refrigerants to transfer energy from the atmosphere into stored water rather than generating heat via harmful fuels, such as natural gas or propane, or inefficient electric coils.

"The heat pump water heaters offer a highly energy‑efficient alternative to traditional models, helping homeowners lower utility costs and reduce environmental impact," Lennox noted. "These systems are engineered for consistent hot water delivery with quiet operation."

According to TCD's water heater partner Cala, upgrading from a traditional electric-resistance water heater to a heat pump model can save you a lot on your energy costs.
