After Super Bowl LX, 136 private jets left five airports across the Bay Area, reported Flightradar24.
The outlet called it a "private jet exodus" and said it was a 1,136% increase in flight activity.
"Maybe the next time Levi's Stadium hosts the Super Bowl, all the celebrities could arrive on high-speed rail," coverage from the San Francisco Chronicle joked.
The comment section on a viral video from ABC7 that was reposted by Front Office Sports on Instagram saw similar commentary.
"So glad my paper straw could make this possible," one person said.
Another person wrote sarcastically: "yeah, more pollution into the environment!! yay, woohoo!"

One resident in Hayward, California, told the Chronicle that the jets created a lot of noise pollution after the game.
The apathy that many individuals have shown toward the environment through their actions isn't surprising.
According to PBS, a study found that two hours of flying a private jet creates more pollution than the average person does in a year. The jet user with the most pollution puts 2,645 tons of carbon dioxide in the air in a year. That's 500 times both global per-person averages, the study cited.

Electric vehicle adoption and research initiatives to recycle EV batteries are a few efficient solutions. Community-wide or even country-wide advocacy for public transportation could lead to projects that allow many people to act sustainably.
Even if it doesn't change the entire world, improving the lives of people around you and your own by taking local action can have a positive impact.
