The USDA is recalling over 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products after a report that some of Kayem Foods Inc.'s products were arriving warm.

The recall includes bacon, hot dogs, sausage, turkey breasts, hams, and other items that went to retailers and foodservice customers across the U.S. and to Hong Kong.

Here's what to know

According to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service's recall notice, "The problem was discovered after the firm received a retail customer complaint regarding warm product temperatures at point of delivery on October 1, 2026."

The FSIS added, "The establishment investigated and determined that they stored various RTE meat and poultry products in a warehouse cooler that experienced temperature deviations."

The recalled foods were produced between March 31, 2026, and October 7, 2026, and affected packages carry one of three establishment numbers: "EST. M/P 7839," "EST. P 20935A," or "EST. M 9520."

Thankfully, no illnesses have been tied to the recalled products. Still, people who think they may be sick should contact a healthcare provider.

More background

Because some of these meats stay usable for a long time, consumers may still store recalled packages in their refrigerators or freezers. That breadth can make it harder for households and commercial kitchens to quickly identify every affected item.

To reduce their risks, consumers should check their refrigerators and freezers for recalled ready-to-eat Kayem products. And because the products were also sent to foodservice locations, people may also want to ask about affected meats if they bought prepared items from delis, cafeterias, or similar outlets.
