A nearly 10-foot python hidden in roadside bushes created a tense moment for staff at a Maharashtra airport.
The snake showed up near the departure area at Amravati Airport, and getting it out safely became a tug-of-war.
Here's what to know
Guards at the airport spotted the python in roadside vegetation near the terminal and phoned a local snake rescuer to take over, according to India Today.
The python was still out of sight when the rescuer arrived, so the rescue took some care.
Video from the scene shows the rescuer working the python free from the brush so it could be taken away, per the outlet. No person or animal was injured, and the python was later released in a forest away from the airport.
Few passengers were around at the time, so there was no panic, and the airport kept running as usual.
More background
The python was found in roadside bushes near a terminal, not deep in a forest.
Wildlife encounters often happen when development and habitat loss push animals and people into closer contact, rather than animals simply acting aggressively for no reason.
What's being done?
Leaving the capture to the rescuer meant the guards never had to handle the python themselves.
After the sighting, airport authorities became more watchful for wild animals wandering onto the grounds, India Today reported.
