A snake stretched across the hood of a moving car in Belarus turned a TikTok into a viral wildlife moment, drawing 1.7 million views.
The pale spots behind the animal's head, as Nasha Niva noted, identified it as a grass snake. Most of the whole reptile was exposed, while its tail disappeared under the hood.
Here's what to know
The video showed the snake chilling on the hood while the car was stopped at a traffic light. The person in the vehicle sounds cool and calm and starts to drive after the light turns green.

"How would you react if at some point you saw a snake on the hood?" the translated caption read. Viewers responded with panic. "I would have already called an ambulance," one commenter wrote. Another said, "Oh no, what if it crawls back? ... I would jump out on the go."
More background
Not everyone reacted with alarm; some viewers leaned into the absurdity of seeing a snake hitching a ride on the hood.
"The alternator belt came off," one person joked, while another called it a "good anti-theft alarm."
The snake also appeared to find its way under the hood, with part of its tail still hidden from view in the video. Encounters like these are often linked to the way roads and other human spaces cut through wildlife habitat, bringing animals and people into close contact.
While the animal itself was in immediate danger as it clung to the vehicle, it could have also turned into a high-stakes situation for drivers on the road if the snake became a distraction.
What can be done?
No rescue or removal was described, and the creator ended the post with a reminder to "Take care of yourself and loved ones!" One user said if that happened to them, the car would already be for sale, while another wrote: "I would give her the car and walk. Well, not walk...run."
Animals can end up on or inside vehicles without warning. Snakes sometimes seek shelter around a vehicle's engine, looking for somewhere dry or warm to hang out.
"The grass snake called a taxi," one commenter imagined. "'Take me to the neighboring forest. Can't you see it's migrating?'"
