Tesla is expanding access to one of its home energy products in Europe, giving households in Portugal a new option for backup power and energy storage.
Here's what to know
On September 4, 2026, Tesla Energy added Portugal to the countries where its three-phase Powerwall 3P can be ordered. The European rollout reached Germany first, then the Netherlands, as reported by TeslaNorth.
Built for Europe's three-phase electrical systems, the Powerwall 3P packages a 13.5-kilowatt-hour home battery with a hybrid inverter. Tesla says the unit can provide up to 15.4 kilowatts continuously, hit 21 kilowatts at peak, and includes Tesla Home.
Tesla is pitching the product as an alternative to using three separate single-phase batteries to achieve full three-phase home backup. In practice, having one unit instead of three could simplify installation, take up less wall space, and offer a more straightforward route to whole-home backup.
More background
Germany seems to have been the first place to open orders, around April 23, 2026, after a launch at Gigafactory Berlin. By August 2026, installer roadshows and distributor listings indicated that the Netherlands had also joined the list of markets where the product could be ordered.
Because three-phase wiring is common in Portuguese homes, the product appears well matched to that market.
The Portugal expansion comes as Tesla continues building out Powerwall deployments, with more than 1 million units already installed worldwide.
