A storm in Fresno County left more than 9,700 PG&E customers without electricity, with outages spread across the Fresno area and near Selma.
Here's what to know
On Oct. 21, PG&E's outage map listed 14 outages affecting 9,702 customers, as GV Wire reported. The utility tied 13 of those outages to the storm. A separate outage was first reported at 10:50 a.m. and affected 236 customers.
Most of the storm-related reports were logged between 1:57 p.m. and 3:04 p.m. The largest entry was the 3:04 p.m. outage near Selma, affecting 2,743 customers, while other major outages were listed at 2:56 p.m. for 1,373 customers, 2:28 p.m. for 1,371 customers, and 2:35 p.m. for 1,115 customers.
More background
GV Wire reported that 5,418 customers around Sanger and more than 7,200 in Clovis had also lost power.
For California households facing both outages and high utility costs, going solar is one of the best ways to save money on home energy. Palmetto is currently running an exclusive offer for Southern California residents that allows customers to save an average of 40% on their electric bills with $0 down.
What's being done?
For the 13 outages linked to the storm, PG&E said it would send crews to inspect the affected areas and complete repairs when conditions allowed.
For the separate 236-customer outage first reported at 10:50 a.m., the utility said crews were examining the electrical system to locate damaged sections and identify needed repairs.
Only the 236-customer outage had a restoration estimate posted, with PG&E saying power was expected back by 6:30 p.m. The other 13 storm-related outages had no determined restoration times.
That uncertainty is one reason energy savings and household resilience matter so much in California. With Palmetto's help, the average Southern California resident can save 40% on their electric bills, which can add up to thousands of dollars per year. Palmetto's $0-down offer gives eligible residents a chance to capture those savings while strengthening their home energy setup.
