Canada highway test finds 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT makes EV road trips feel 'too easy'

Electric vehicle road trips were once defined by the compromise of slower travel, extra planning, and constant attention to the battery gauge. 

But Greg of Simply Gregster EV (@SimplyGregsterEV) took a 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT on a highway road trip and came away with a notable conclusion that the experience no longer feels especially unusual.

To evaluate the vehicle, Greg focused on the practical checkpoints that matter on a highway run. 

The video follows the Mach-E GT through trip setup, route planning, battery-state updates, a charging session, and his closing assessment, offering a real-world look beyond the range rating.

"With longer ranges, better charging the EV road trip is getting a little too easy," Greg wrote in the video description.

The trip cemented that point, as instead of questions around feasibility, Greg focused on the good and bad of make-or-break parts of the vehicle.

He dinged the bucket seats, which were "not meant for long drives," and a stiff suspension better-suited for a race track. Greg said the charging performance was good if not stellar and that the vehicle was very efficient.

As far as range, Greg said the Mach-E GT neared its official range and only trailed it because he drove pretty fast. He had no complaints around the price of charging, either, with the 300-plus-mile trip costing around 10-12 Canadian dollars.

Greg did find the software a little slow and laggy and wasn't a fan of Blue Cruise and its safety zones, which drivers can pay for with a subscription. Overall, Greg loved the vehicle, though he said he might opt for a Mach-E Premium, not the GT.
