A first-time Jackery HomePower 2000 Plus v2 owner on Reddit ran into an unexpected result while using the unit as refrigerator backup. Even with the station plugged into household power, its charge indicator reportedly fell from 100% to 90% in about three hours.
Here's what to know
Much of the discussion in the Reddit post centered on the unit's operating mode. After charging the HomePower fully, plugging the refrigerator into the AC2 outlet, the owner saw the battery percentage continue to drop while the fridge kept running, leading to questions about AC Bypass, UPS behavior, and whether a custom battery setting was still active.
The original poster described, "I thought the Jackery would keep a 100% charge, and only use the battery in an emergency, when there was no electrical power at all in my home."
One commenter said a gradual decline can still happen while the Jackery is connected to live wall power because "the internal control system and inverter are being powered by the battery." According to that explanation, this is also what enables the unit to transfer in "10ms" if utility power drops, so a connected fridge keeps running.
More background
Replies also split on whether UPS behavior requires any setup.
One Reddit user wrote, "It has a UPS mode. You just have to set it up for it. Isn't automatic."
"UPS mode is automatic," someone else disagreed. "In fact, I don't think you can even shut it off."
The OP said they had already tested the fridge during a blackout simulation when the battery was near 68%, not near the 90% level they expected it to hold. Commenters suggested that earlier test could explain why the Jackery kept supplying the refrigerator from battery power even after wall power came back.
A commenter said the reserve settings shown there were the real issue rather than a true keep-full standby setup. In their words, the "Customize" setting "won't start charging until 85%, not 90%. And it will stop charging when it hits 90%, so it will never get to 100%."
"I was thinking this would handle the fridge as well as a couple other devices. I have UPSes for my computers, and I thought this would run the same way," the OP also said in a comment.
What can be done?
The main fix suggested was changing the Working Mode to "Fully Use," which the OP said they did after reading the advice. The commenter recommending that mode said their own units stay at 100% "for 99% of the time" and recharge after only a tiny drop, rather than waiting until 85%.
Because the battery had already fallen to 64%, that same commenter suggested turning the unit completely off, and then back on, before testing again. The OP said they took the fridge off the Jackery for the night, shut the unit down, and considered doing a factory reset if restarting it did not help.
Fortunately, after leaving the unit off overnight, the OP updated, "This worked! After being off all night, it is now working in UPS mode! Thank you for the suggestion."
