Parents are on alert about a recalled children's product sold online to help babies sleep. Amazon is pulling one lot of Baby's Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water sold through Amazon and secretsofttea.com because some bottles contained undeclared alcohol.

Here's what to know

As KCTV5 (@kctv5) shared in a TikTok video report, families who bought Baby's Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water from Amazon or secretsofttea.com may want to examine it closely.

The recalled bottles contained undeclared ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol, per the company's voluntary recall.

Most notably, the ethanol level was above what the FDA permits in medicine. The recall noted measured levels exceeded 8% for ethanol and were below .5% for methanol and isopropanol.

The station said a single dose could cause vomiting, nausea, or coordination problems in a baby. Parents should identify the product by its packaging details, including a 4-ounce amber bottle marked with lot code 25122BW and a date of December 2028.

More background

Because KCTV5 said the product was sold on Amazon and secretsofttea.com, bottles tied to the recall may be in homes well outside the area where the alert first appeared.

The December 2028 date also means a bottle could still look like something a parent might keep using. The recall announcement noted that the company had "received no reports of adverse events" from the lot.

What can be done?

Start by looking for Baby's Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water in a 4-ounce amber bottle, particularly if you bought it through Amazon or secretsofttea.com.

Then check whether the container shows lot code 25122BW and a December 2028 date.

A bottle matching those details should no longer be used. KCTV5 said families can either discard it or take it back where it was bought. If they do the latter, they are entitled to a full refund.
