A family in eastern India received an unexpected houseguest when an eight-foot python slipped into their home and helped itself to dinner.

A routine day turned into a frightening encounter at a home in Mirigini village in Balasore's Nilagiri area when a python got inside and consumed two chickens and seven eggs before anyone realized what was happening.
The family was still in the house when the python got inside, the Deccan Chronicle reported. Poultry kept near the residence is believed to have attracted the reptile to the property.
Once the family realized the snake was in the house, they scrambled to safety and called a local snake helpline for assistance. When the rescue team arrived, they tracked the python's movements and managed to secure the snake without injuring it or putting anyone at risk.
