In Kennewick, Washington, a woman watching a neighbor's snakes had a terrifying encounter with a loose 10-foot boa constrictor that bit her and coiled around her leg.
What started as a visit to a shed quickly escalated into a 911 call, a police rescue, a hospital trip, and an hours-long effort to get the snake back into its cage, according to the Tri-City Herald.
Here's what to know
At about 11:30 a.m., the woman went into a shed on the 2400 block of West 41st Avenue to care for the snakes while their owner was out of town.
Sgt. Kris Safranek of the Kennewick Police Department told the Tri-City Herald that the woman did not realize one of the snakes had already escaped.
Safranek added that the boa constrictor bit her and then wrapped around her leg.
Responding officers removed the snake, and the woman received care at a hospital.

The snake then made its way under the shed, and the owner's family spent hours trying to get it back out. They recaptured it around 5 p.m. and put it back in its cage.
The owner cooperated with police.
