According to the Birmingham Mail, Curetons buying agent Robin Edwards said adding air conditioning to a home could add an extra 1% to 3% to a house's value.
Based on a Sanctuary Bathrooms analysis, that works out to about $11,000 (£8,184) for an average property worth roughly $364,000 (£270,000). On higher-end homes, the increase could be around $20,000 (£15,000).
Edwards told the Birmingham Mail that, "In some premium properties, where overheating is a genuine issue, the uplift could be higher because it helps differentiate the home in a competitive market."
He also warned that homeowners should think about air conditioning as a way to increase appeal, not as a sure financial return.
Edwards added that "a discreet, energy-efficient system that is professionally installed will add far more value than a visible retrofit with bulky units and poor aesthetics."
