A nearly 13-foot (4-meter) python was discovered on Aug. 23 in the backyard of a car wash in Pattaya, Thailand. Staff didn't spot the snake right away because it blended in with the plants and ground cover.

Here's what to know

According to Pattaya Mail, a report of a large snake at E.C. Car Wash on Soi Thepprasit 17 led Pattaya's Jomtien Fire Station to send officers and an inspection vehicle 410 at about 7:25 a.m. Firefighters safely secured and removed the python, with no injuries reported.

Part of the shock was that the massive reptile was found on commercial property rather than in a more remote area.

More background

The report said residents and businesses should stay watchful for snakes in gardens, backyards, and other quiet areas, especially during the rainy season.
