"We priced out the whole set and with cushions would have been about $15,000 new."

What if the patio set sitting at a thrift store for less than $100 was not just a decent outdoor upgrade, but a luxury haul worth thousands?

That was the surprise for one Goodwill shopper, who said a second glance turned an ordinary stop into the "best deal of our lives by far."

Here's what to know

According to a Reddit post, the shopper nearly missed a solid teak patio collection from Gloster and Frontgate while browsing the store.

"Walked past it on the way in, on the way out we looked closer and couldn't leave it," the original poster wrote. "It was priced as separate pieces for a total of $103 but as a whole they gave it to us for $75."

"Ummm just one chair is $$ two thousand!" one commenter wrote. "You hit a literal jackpot!!!"

The original poster replied, "Yeah, we priced out the whole set and with cushions would have been about $15,000 new."

One commenter joked, "That's it. I quit."

What can be done?

Buying secondhand through thrift store shopping is an excellent way to keep waste out of landfills while saving money.

As for the finishing touch, the original poster said they "just have to find cushions that look good."

"If you're close to a RH (restoration hardware) Outlet - they put their cushions on for damn near free to get rid of them," one commenter suggested. "Perfect find!"
