Charm, a rescue dog whose story captured attention on TikTok, has found the ending animal lovers always hope for.

In a TikTok update, shared after followers watched and spread Charm's journey, Battersea said Charm "has now gone to a loving new home with a wonderful family, and she is settling in brilliantly!"

Here's what to know

In its video update, animal rescue organization Battersea (@battersea) said Charm has been adopted and is already doing well with her new family.

The video showed the care taken to ease the handover to her new forever home. Battersea showed that everyone took their time so as not to overwhelm Charm.

Charm is settling into her new home well. The video shows the owners patting her before she sniffs her new digs, gladly accepts new toys, and finds all the best napping spots inside and outside the house. The video also shows some adventures outside the house.

To show how quickly Charm has adjusted, the rescue also passed along a message from the new owners' daughter.

"It's like she's been there forever!" she said. "She's loving her new garden, is eating very enthusiastically and loves you to hold her paw while she snoozes! She very much enjoys her home life and her many beds and sofas around the house!"

More background

The organization also used the post to thank the people who helped amplify Charm's story, writing, "Your support helped get Charm seen by so many people, and we're so grateful you were part of her journey."

A shared video can reach far beyond a shelter's immediate community, giving adoptable pets visibility among people who otherwise might not have known they were available.

The new owners' daughter also said, "She's an absolute angel, and my parents are as besotted with her as she is with them."

That love was going both ways. In on-screen text, Battersea wrote of Charm, "More importantly she's getting the love she's always wanted."

What can be done?

Watching, commenting on, and sharing shelter posts can help more potential adopters see an animal that needs a home.

In Charm's case, Battersea shared that she was the shelter's "longest staying dog" and had been there for over 500 days in a previous video. Undoubtedly, getting that sort of visibility helped match the dog with the right owners and end her long stay sooner.

The new owners' daughter said, "She was definitely waiting for them for her forever home."
