Canada's growing electric vehicle industry has expanded to military motorcycles with the introduction of the Dispatch.
Here's what to know
A fully electric tactical motorcycle built for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance work in extreme conditions, the Dispatch has been specifically built and designed by Canadian manufacturer NorthForge, as reported by New Atlas.
NorthForge says the bike uses three swappable battery packs from Canadian supplier SysNergie, giving it a range of about 125 miles with speeds up to 68 mph. The company lists the motorcycle at roughly 308 pounds, which puts it in the same general weight class as 300cc gas-powered enduro bikes.
Each battery pack can be replaced in under a minute, and the motorcycle would still operate if only one of the three packs were left working. NorthForge also said the Dispatch can carry up to 440 pounds of cargo through five dedicated chassis mounting points and two additional racks on the forks.
Trevor Hayter, chief executive officer and founder of NorthForge, said, "The design was developed over more than three years, working with active CAF members and other key stakeholders and advisors."

Still in the trial stage, New Atlas said the Dispatch has moved past the design phase and is being readied for testing, so confirmed real-world performance information is limited.

Hayter described NorthForge's work, saying, "The Dispatch didn't start as some dream we had, or theories we derived from reading articles or watching videos." He added, "Our conclusions and final specifications came from military service members themselves and via real-world testing."
