Fifty cats rescued in an animal abuse case in Southern Oregon got a fresh start after months of care and rehabilitation.
The animals, found in what officials described as dangerous living conditions, were available for adoption at the Oregon Humane Society's Portland campus, according to KOIN.

In June, officials took the cats from a Central Point home amid suspected neglect, KOIN reported, citing the Oregon Health Authority.
Officials said the cats lacked adequate care while they were kept in "hazardous" conditions.
Court documents cited by KOIN indicated the residence smelled of "urine, feces, and rotting corpses" and was layered with "multiple inches of feces."
Oregon Humane removed the cats from the property.
