In the Reddit post, the family wrote that it had started considering adopting again after losing a cherished pet. Then, before any search really began, the original poster described finding "two cats abandoned in the park with a bag of food."
OP added, "We forgot. We don't choose [to get cats]. We get assigned… Surprisingly affectionate with us early, even if spooked by the new space for the first few days. They were clearly loved by someone who must have hit rough times."
The cats were later brought to a veterinarian for shots, and a scan found "no chips." The OP also said an appointment had already been made "to get them fixed in about a week."
