Teddy, a small dog who disappeared during a hike on a mountain in England's Lake District, survived nearly three weeks alone before volunteers and rescuers brought the ordeal to a close with a dramatic rescue from a steep ravine.

Teddy remained missing for almost three weeks after disappearing on August 2 during a hike with his owner on Helvellyn, England's third-highest peak, Good News Network reported.
His location was finally discovered on August 21, when volunteers searching the mountain traced his barking to Dry Gill, a steep ravine on Helvellyn's slopes. The outlet reported that these rescuers found Teddy but could not safely reach the spot where he was trapped.
Then, seven members of the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team spent three and a half hours carrying out a successful recovery operation. The group posted about the ordeal in a Facebook update.
The rescue team wrote that when they "reached Teddy, who thankfully had no obvious injuries, although after nearly three weeks on the fell, he had understandably lost a considerable amount of weight. He was given a small amount of food before being safely secured in a rucksack for the journey back down."
He was then reunited with his owner before being taken to a veterinarian.
