Included in the settlement are people who received an Equinox notice stating that their information may have been implicated in the April 29, 2024, breach. Under the agreement, Equinox would pay $685,000 to resolve the claims.
The data involved, according to Top Class Actions, may have included driver's license details, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, and other personal data. Anyone who received the notice can file a claim.
Social Security numbers and driver's license data can be used in identity theft schemes, while health insurance information can create additional privacy and fraud concerns.
The lawsuit alleged that Equinox did not adequately safeguard consumer information before the breach.
