Luna, a dog without a home, arrived in dire shape at a veterinary clinic in Portugal. Unable to walk, the animal was abandoned by its original owners. Now, a video of the dog's long-shot recovery and eventual adoption is capturing hearts online.
What happened?
Luna's new owner took to Reddit to explain her situation and share heartwarming videos of her miraculous recovery.

According to the post, Luna was taken to a veterinary clinic in Portugal after her former owners gave her up. The adopter said Luna was paralyzed and there were discussions in the clinic about putting her down.
Rather than give up on her, one of the veterinarians, Cláudia, pushed for Luna to be treated. The clinic cared for her, guided her through rehabilitation, and later helped her find a home.
In the footage, viewers get a firsthand look at Luna's slow process back to assisted walking, each clip showing a little bit of Luna's progress.

Luna's adopter wrote, "We adopted Luna more than a year ago, and she's been part of our family ever since."
Why does it matter?
